Thank you for sharing your beautiful precious boy for all to see. It is obvious how much you truly loved and cared for Cole. I too have found out my baby Ben has SMA I. We found out at his two month appt. and he is now almost four months. I cherish every minute and just knowing we are not alone in this, helps us get through the day! I also have a 3 year old daughter Alyson who helps me get up every morning and makes me smile when I don't think I have it in me. God Bless your family and Congrats on your baby Girl.

Beautiful site!!! I have a twin boy and girl...seventeen years old...they were born three months premature..my son therefore has cerebral palsy....they were in the pnicu for three months...scariest time in my life...so many "close" calls...but...here we are seventeen years later...have been thru the wheelchairs,walkers,forearm walkers..etc....Life is soooooooo differant...and you are right..you take it minute by minute..and it is soo calm..slower...yu really begin to wonder what NORMAL is...he is my angel...and so is his sister!! My goodness, what sweet little angels. I could not read angel Cole's story without crying. It is so touching. It is the first time i heard of the desease, and i am so sorry for the lost his parents suffered. At least he is in a good place now, somewhere he can be happy, playing, running, laughing, and without the pain, but it must be so hard. This story truly touched my heart, and i can see that he had such great people in his life, God knew that he chose the perfect mommy and daddy for an angel in need. If God didn't think that you couldn't care for that little angel, he would have given him to someone else, but you were perfect and everyone can see, that little boy was happy. kristin and dan, I can imagine how hard it was to lose a child; i myself have had 2 miscarrages and now i am 5 months pregnant. i'm scared that i might lose this chid too;but i just play that i don't.when i read your story about your little angel cole...my eyes watered because i know how it feels. but i'm happy you two made it though and never gve up.although cole is playing and rumming around with his other angel friends from sma. he still send you two rainbows as bleesing in the spring and summer and snow in the winter. although it's been rough he will always be there the same way you two have been there for him. i know he misses you and everyday he watches you while you sleep. remember this: whenever you hear the birds singing;it's cole saying i love you.if you feel a breeze;it's cole kissing you.when theirs silence in the house or in a room; it's your little angel walking by.

Hi Sweet Boy! Hope you got your balloons that Will and Joey have been sending up to you. They talk about you all the time. The last few weeks Joey has been throwing fits to go to heaven to see you. We tell him its not his turn to go there yet, but when he does, Cole will be there to show him the ropes. Hard to explain to a 4 year old about heaven. I m sorry about your loss and I can understand how you feel. I lost my son 6 years ago because he has very severe heart problem & left me with no choice to continue my pregnancy. Now I m preggy with my 3rd child and my baby is diagnosed of having "Omphalocele". This time round I choose to continue my pregnancy but I know that my tough journey will start in 2 months time when I deliver my bb. My baby will have to undergo many major operations to fix the problems and she may spend a long time in hospital. I m trying to remain positive and praying miracle on my baby. Be strong and I trust Cole is in a better place now without suffering.

Dear Kristen, Daniel & Loki, I heard about your tragic story yesterday. My 27 year old has a friend named Dael whoes mum (Melissa)is with Cole's quilts downunder and she asked me if I would be interested in helping her as I am a quilter she explained in short as I had to go to work (I work in a Hospital) so when I got to work I looked up the web site. Reading about cole made me cry it is so heart-Breaking that stuff like that happens. When I read his story I thought of two of my friends (brothers)who passed away from a genetic brain cancer when they where just 2 years old and one day from 5.I was there when Tyler was born it is so heart-breaking to see the pain that they endure just to stay with us. Thank you for sharing your story. My friend, Paige, told me of this site. How touching. The pictures are just adorable. What a sweet little boy. I guess Cole sent his snowflakes down to us all on Christmas Day. He must have also heard the prayers of my 9 1/2 year old boy, Nate. A couple weeks before Christmas, Nate asked if it would snow on Christmas day. I told him I didn't know. He asked if he could pray to Jesus and ask Him for snow. I said, holding my breath and knowing how unpredictable St. Louis weather can be, yes, you can. Nate and his twin sister were born 3 1/2 months premature. Nate weighed 1 1/2 lbs at birth, his sister, Olivia 1 lb 8oz. They are both doing well but getting to where they are now was hard work. Nate has mild C.P. and a lot of things are not easy for him... athletics, bike riding. He usually comes in last on any competition, he has to work harder than most to succeed. So his self-esteem suffers. I said Lord, please hear his prayer. It's in your hands. We were in the van, and Nate prayed and asked for snow on Christmas. A prayer so simple from a child's heart. At 1:00a on Christmas Eve my husband and I had finally finished putting out the toys, etc. We looked outside and the snow was "raining" down. It couldn't be! It was so warm yesterday, it's not going to stick. But it did, if only for a day. So I think that the Lord told Cole that He needed him to make a few extra snowflakes. That there was a little boy who needed some extra special snowflakes sent down to earth. Ones that only Cole's hands could make and send down. Nate, his twin sister Olivia, Sam (6 1/2) and Ben (3) were extra excited on Christmas morning. I am really glad I got to meet your little Angel. He has been a blessing to me.

Dear Kristin, I'm so sorry to read about your loss and all that you have been through. The pictures are beautiful. I noticed your post on IVFConnections. My name is also Kristen (the e version!) and my husband and I have a son named Cole born on August 11, 2001. Although we conceived Cole naturally and he is thank god healthy, we have also experienced 5 miscariages because my husband (as well as our son) is a carier of a chromosomal translocation. We have had several failed IVF with PGD cycles at Cornell in NYC in an attempt to achieve another unaffected pregnancy but we will try a few more times. I hope you are able to pursue PGD to get around your genetic issue and have another baby. Best of luck and condolances to you and your family, Kristen.

I was "surfing the net" to research SMA. I have a friend who has 2 children with SMA. My students have been raising money for SMA, so I wanted to educate myself as well as my students about every aspect of this disease. Hi sweetie, I've been thinking about you and your mom a lot lately...I don't know why exactly, but you've been on my heart.
