This is such a beautiful tribute to an amazing little boy. Devon has touched my heart and because of him and your ability to tell his story I will be a much better mom to my little man. I will be more patient, loving and understanding. I will enjoy each moment and evey hug. Thank you for this gift.

I found your site through looking up information on SMA1 as my Granddaughter who lives at home with us was diagnosed just before Christmas. She is 6 months old and called Katelyn, her Mummy`s name (my Daughter is called Rachel).

Hi Laura ~ I check in here occasionally. It always seemed like I had met Devon for some reason. Although we never met in person; but perhaps some day. Only a mother who has lost a child can try to relate to all of your feelings. But you will never ever forget! God Bless you, Laura!! Sending you hugs!! Patty

Your story of your son Devon touched my heart. I'am a father of a child diagnosed with SMA from birth and am still in the fight to prolong the time we have with him. I am sure that your son was so precious to your entire family. And nothing could ever replace the emptiness in your lives where Devon once stood. It kills me inside to know many other families have these kind of hardships to go thru.I feel all the pain you've gone thru and Hope with the lords help, that I to may find peace. You are an inspiration to many. With your help we may shed enough light about SMA to bring forth a new line of treatments and or cure. Our children will laugh and play together in the presence of our Lord.Thank you so much for sharing the story of your sons life, forever loved.I pray for the rest of your family and wish nothing but the best for you and your husband. Sincerly , Antonio.

Laura you are definatly a strong mother. I had been through the same in june 2000. My son died at the age of two and the half months. The worst thing about sma is you see your baby getting worse day by day and you cant help him. you wish to give your baby your health and life and take all his pain but you just cant. I cried alot while reading your story. Your son is in the heaven.

I came across your story as I was researching SMA. It truly touched my heart. My son was recently diagnosed at the age of 2 months. We have brought him home to live out the rest of his wonderful days with us!
