poem was chosen by Cody's Uncle Gary right after he died and it was read
by Reverend Charles Rose at Cody's funeral.
grieve for me, for now I'm free,
following the path God has laid you see.
took his hand when I heard Him call,
turned my back and left it all.
could not stay another day,
laugh, to love, to work, to play.
left undone must stay that way,
found that peace at the close of day.
my parting has left a void,
fill it with remembered joys
friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
yes, these things I too will miss.
not burdened with times of sorrow,
wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
life's been full, I've savored much,
friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
my time seemed all too brief,
lengthen it now with undue grief.
up your hearts and peace to thee,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
