My Story

Sydney Maddison is our beautiful little two year old. As most of you already know, Sydney is our foster daughter that we are hoping to adopt one day. In March 2006, God blessed us with this little angel, she needed a family to love her and protect her and we were chosen. Sydney had a rough start coming into this world, she was born with a heart condition. She fought through that only to be faced with a pretty tough life with her birth family. This little girl has already been through so much and still has a long way to go.

Sydney was recently diagnosed with SMA Type 2. SMA is also known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy, this is a form of muscular dystrophy. 1 in every 6000 children are born with this deadly disease, this disease is the number one genetic killer in children. SMA is a degenerative disease that causes severe respiratory complications, scoliosis, and many other muscle weaknesses (mostly gross motor)

We have been told that Sydney will never walk without some type of assistance and will eventually be wheelchair bound. Sydney will continue to have respiratory complications that can one day cause respiratory failure.

Knowing all of this we still grow to love her more and more everyday. She has stolen the hearts of everyone she meets. But we need your help, with prayer we believe God is capable of anything and I believe that they will find a cure for this horrible disease. So we are asking you to pray not only for Sydney but for every other child that has this disease, we also ask that you pray for the doctors and scientists that are working around the clock to find a cure for all childhood diseases. Our children deserve a future!
