Kaydence's mom, aunt and grandma came up from Ohio with the Angel Wing Awareness Quilt.We got to meet Angel Sonja's Mommy and Daddy, Scarlett and Boris for the first time. We would like to thank Louise Smith and Theresa vanFraassen for choosing our Abby and Jamie together. This horrible disease took our babies from us but we will always remember them and continue the fight against this horrible disease on their behalf. Yesterday, I went to Chatham to visit Garda Markham and her family. It was so nice to see her again and her daughters and granddaughter Hanna. Such a nice and welcoming family. Everyday we try to see something positive in our lives after loosing Abby and meeting Garda, Krista, Janne, Louise and Theresa and their families is something postive.
TodayThis horrible disease has done it again. This time to a little boy by the name of Cole Webb. We never met him or his family as they live in New Jersey however his parents did share his life with us through Our SMA Angels. Cole is also the little boy whose family makes Cole's Quilts which we have requested one for Abby. They make quilts for children with SMA. TodayToday is one of our Abby's Angel friend's birthday. Abby Anne Langford would be 6 today had she not been born with leukemia but instead she only lived for 6 weeks. She passed away on Dec. 26,1998. When our Abby got her wings Abby Langford's mommy & daddy (Lori & Rob) wrote us so that we would know were are not alone. Our Abbys' lives were short but they will not be forgotten. Our daughters did not die of the same thing but they both died from horrible diseases. They were beautiful babies who both shared the same beautiful name.
TodayWe would just like to thank everyone who phoned or emailed us on Abby's Angel Day. Thank you Krista & Janne for the lovely gift. Thank you Tracey, Gary & Samatha for your lovely gift. Mom & Dad Galbraith, Pop & Ma Loebach, Tom,June, Jayna,Hayley, Nolan & Amelia for attending Mass with us last night.We know how much her family and friends miss her. This year has been difficult for everyone but with our Angel Abby watching over us all we will be strong.
TodayOctober 21,2004 Dear baby girl, It has been 1 year since SMA took you from me. Each day without you seems to get a little harder be I'll be strong for you.I would give anything or pay any price just to hold you and see that big smile 1 more time. I just wanted to let you know how much I love you and how proud I am to be your Daddy. As I look back over the past year and a half it is just remarkable how many people you have touched and continue to touch each day and how many lives you have made better. As I read and learn more about SMA and other SMA kids and understand more about what you went through and how truly courageous you were I am more proud of you every day. As time goes on I am trying to become the man that you can be proud to call your Daddy.I have worked hard, ate right, lost weight and have developed my muscles and a have really gotten myself physically fit and made the best of the gift of health I was given just like I promised you I would when you were here and I will continue to do so.I joined hockey again and try to use all the different talents I was blessed with and next year I'll work on golf again although mentally I just was never in it this year and gave up.I'll show you daddy is not a quitter. I continue to go to church on sundays and try to be a good person and to do whatever I can to make sure that when my time comes I'll be with you again.I have been bitter and angry all year and have walked away from or pushed away a lot of the people who love me out of fear of feeling this pain all the time and not wanting to be hurt anymore.I am going to work on this and do better. I have declared war on this monster called SMA. I will do whatever I can in the fight against it in your honour.This time this monster doesn't know who it is messing with and it has made a big mistake picking me.You were truly the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love you and miss you and think of you every day and I hope that You can be almost as proud of me as your daddy as I am that you are my baby girl so I'll keep trying and as always look to you for inspiration. TodayThursday October 21, 2004 4:00pm We have been able to write in our journal for a couple of weeks but thought we would wait until today. It was this time and date last year that our lives would never be the same. For today is ABBY's ANGEL DAY. It has been very difficult for me these couple of days, weeks, months because I miss her so much. I am not sure what I miss the most her soft skin,her soft cry, her loving smile or those EYES. Gosh I loved them. I have a couple of things I would like to say to my Abby one is from a book called Mommy, Please don't cry..... There Are No Tears in Heaven by Linda Deymaz " Someday, Mommy, we will hold each other tight Then you will cradle me in your arms, and stroke my hair... and once, again our hearts will beat together The other is a poem The moment that you died, Our hearts were split in two, The one side filled with memories, The other died with you. We think of you in silence, We always speak your name, For all we have are memories, And your picture in a frame. They say that there is a reason, They say time will heal, But neither time nor reason , Helps the emptiness we feel. For no one knows the heartache, That hides behind our smile, No one knows what we would do, To sit with you awhile, We want to tell you something, So there won't be any doubts, You're so wonderful to think of, But so hard to live without. Abby you were my baby girl on earth and you are now an angel in heaven and I am so proud to be your mommy. Until we meet again baby girl.
