A friend of mine introduced me to your site because she knows just how important babies are to me. She told me I would be touched, but I never realized how deeply. God bless you and Lily. Amy, I am so very sorry to read about Lily's episodes that must be the most frightening thing in the world but you baby girl is such a fighter!!!!! You are right after losing Quinn to this awful disease you do look at life differently and I find I have little patience for people how complain. You learn to appreciate life and every minute- Little things like a transmission going on a van just after the warranty is up (just happened to us) seems so insignificant and unimportant now. Hi! Just checking in! See you had a crazy day recently! Glad she is ok now! Ya know, things get worse before they get better. This is what I've experienced anyway. Payton used to run about 95-96 average and recently he has started to run much better numbers, and he looks better, and he needs the bipap less. I know that this is not any guarantee, and that things can change at any time, but I feel confident about him right now, and that is not a feeling I am used to with sma and Payton. By confident, I mean that I don't feel like every SINGLE day is a roll of the dice. By the way, do you do neb treatments? I really think they make a difference with Paytons' secretions (keeping them thin) and his numbers (keeping them better) Anyway, sorry for rambling on your board! Hi Miss Lily! We are SO glad to hear that you are having a great week! Having my arms stretched is one of my least favorite things too! My mommy has been getting really strict about me wearing my boots (AFOs), but I don't mind them so much now that my mommy figured out that she should put my monitor on my hand and put powder in my boots so my feet don't get all wet and sweaty. My other favorite things to do now are play dress up and do my "chores". When I turned two, I started having chores to do, and they are fun! I feed my fish every day, and I am growing a bean plant like the little boy on Elmo's World, so I have to water it. I can't wait to see you in May, so we can play and play! Just under two months ago I lost my precious angel daughter Ella Jade to Sma type 1 she was 91/2 months old. You AMAZE me at your ability to juggle all of the things you do like the traveling (I can't begin to imagine how much stuff you must have to pack to go somewhere for a few days) and the many special places you take Lily. All the while you never seem to miss a beat and you have so much fun at the same time! You are some kind of a mom, Amy! You've always been fun, and it's wonderful to know that no matter the obstacles you just keep on having fun and enjoying life never even appearing to consider very much of ANYTHING an obstacle at all. I hope you remember to take into consideration your own needs as we moms can get pretty overwhelmed sometimes and there's nothing like a little time away from it all to treat ourselves to some of that TLC that we're good at giving out. I'm so thankful that you have your parents close by and so many wonderful friends from the SMA family. You are special to me, Amy. You always have been and I don't see that ever changing. How I would love to get to spend some time together! Someday we can I'm sure. I can't wait to meet Lily! Our kids are in school now. Andy is in the 3rd grade and Erin started K this year. They both love school and are doing really well. Tim and I are doing very well, too, as well as the rest of my family. You'll have to tell your mom and dad that my parents are developing 20 acres of the farm and are really excited about it. Dad is still farming the remaining 48 acres and continues to love it. They have put in a pool in their backyard so guess where we spend a lot of time during the summer?Sounds like Lily is quite the swimmer. We will pray for your lovely Lily. I had a son in Jan 2001 he had SMA I. He expired in June 2001. Later that year i conceived again, did the SMA test, it was negative, my baby boy was okay but i miscarried due to the test. Again the third time i conceived and miscarried before the test. The fourth time, i did the test and my baby was SMA positive so had an abortion in March 2003, Still trying, but its been a long struggle thats not over yet. as a peds home nurse for over 10 year, have seen so many families like yours and I want you to know that I ADMIRE YOU and apologize for the hard times you have probably had with the "professionals" unfortunately we try to hard sometimes to "fix" things, and you end up with a thousand and one "suggestions" to try to sift through....the one device I recently became aware of is a chest vest that I love and wish EVERY child with respiratory problems could have because it does the "cpt" that some many kids need to keep the airway clear. It is the middle of the night and I was getting ready to turn you but headed to the computer for a minute...I want you to know how much I love you Lily.
